Public Artwork in Texas City


During the late-1990s and early 2000, Texas City underwent something of a public art renaissance. Numerous artworks were commissioned by the city, chiefly under the tenure of Mayor Charles T. Doyle. Volunteers and a private/public partnership working under Texas City's Goals 2000 installed much of the public art to beautify the city. The artwork includes outdoor sculpture, paintings and fountains. Some of the artists are local, while others sell their pieces on a national level.
